Baan Hin Ngam
was built as an alternative to the increasingly expensive accommodation
on both Koh Samui and at some of the higher end resorts on Koh Phan Ngan.
The house is the first property of its kind on the island -- a tropical
modern space designed for the luxury rental market. While similar in its
appointments to many of the properties found on the neighbouring island
of Samui, Hin Ngam offers luxury, privacy, quiet, relaxation and natural
surroundings that are not marred by the development, noise, traffic and
manic pace that have become too much a part of the Koh Samui experience.
While it is still growing, Koh Phan Ngan has avoided many of the pitfalls encountered on Koh Samui: the island has managed to maintain its mellow natural charm, and despite its proximity to its busier, more cosmopolitan sister, Koh Phan Ngan retains a uniquely Thai character that is apparent the moment you step off the ferry. It is this more than anything that keeps people coming back, and it has also contributed to Koh Phan Ngan’s measured development. The original back packers have grown up, but they haven’t forgotten what they fell in love with on the island 10 years ago. Driving the roads between Thongsala and Chaloklam is a relaxing and pleasurable experience, punctuated by stunning ocean and jungle views on all sides and almost devoid of traffic. There are no-four lane highways on Koh Phan Ngan, in fact not all the roads have been paved, and some beaches are still accessible only by boat or on foot. Despite its laconic character, Phan Ngan has abundant nightlife. For those who want it, the party town of Haadrin on the south-western coast offers dining, dancing and all manner of debauchery, especially during Koh Phan Ngan’s renowned full moon party. As if that weren’t enough, there are regular events at assorted venues all around the island at different times of the month. The “Black Moon” party and “Jungle” parties are perfect examples. |
