Koh Tao, Turtle Island
Baan Leelavadee sits in a quiet valley at the bottom of the limestone hills that run north-south and make up the spine of Koh Tao. The Island is best known for the dive resorts and beautiful unspoilt beaches and secluded coves that dot the rugged coastline. Ideal for both the young, and the young at heart. After a day relaxing on the beach, snorkelling, or exploring some of the best dive sites in the world watch a perfect sunset on Sairee Beach with a long cool drink before enjoying the many restaurants, bars and discos that run down to the sea. From high end "Pacific Fusion" food to delicious freshly caught sea- food berbecued in the open air there is sure to be something to suite your palate and your pocket.
Located in the Gulf of Siam 70km off the east coast of Thailand, between Suratthani and Chumpon, Koh Tao is situated well away from the Tsunami area on the west coast of Thailand. The climate is tropical throughout the year but without the high humidity that affects the Thai mainland. Only accesible by sea from either Koh Samui, or Chumpon on the mainland, Koh Tao has been, until recently. a carefully guarded secret. Recent sympathetic development is beginning to open the Island up to the discerning tourist though there is still only one paved road on the island which is little more than 21kmsq. Small motorbikes, which can be hired locally, are the main form of transport, as well as 4WD pickups which double as taxis. Taxi boats, usually the traditional colourful long tail, can take you to the stunning secluded bays and coves around the island which are almost impossible to reach by road.
All forms of beach and ocean based pursuits are available thoughout the island. There are also several excellent health, massage and yoga spas to ease away your aches and pains. The brand new Orchid Home Spa is located just 50m away and offers discounted treatments to our clients.
